November is National Adoption Month!

November is National Adoption Month! The primary goal of foster care is to reunify children with their parents. However, if that option is not available, adoption or another type of permanent home is the secondary goal. Here at Parents Thrive Colorado, we are highlighting and honoring supports for families touched by adoption and foster care. Our team has collected resources and stories aimed to support families like yours. Check them out below:

Raise the Future

Raise the Future designs and implements evidence-based, wraparound services that reduce the amount of time youth in foster care live without a permanent family. Raise the Future programs increase the likelihood of forming and sustaining positive connections that help to transform their futures.

Postpartum Support International: Birth Moms Support Group

PSI’s online Birth Mom Support Group provides connection for birth moms/first moms who place a baby for adoption. This group is intended for women who are considering adoption, have placed a child or have had a child placed for adoption. Whether your child was born recently or years ago you are welcome to join for peer support.

LGBTQ+ Adoption Competent Mental Health Professionals

Raise the Future maintains a directory of Colorado-licensed mental health professionals for child, youth, and family referrals. These mental health professionals are asked about their experience and expertise working with the LGBTQ+ community and list this expertise in the online database (when applicable).

Circle of Parents

Join other caregivers to share support, tips and advice or just talk. This is a safe space to vent, cry, laugh, joke and find out how other caregivers are navigating this new world.
