Mother’s Day in the NICU

If you are spending this Mother’s Day in the NICU, or have in the past, you are not alone. Time spent in the NICU can be incredibly stressful and connecting with the right support for you can make a big difference. This Mother’s Day we are highlighting blogs, resources, and services for parents and their children while in the NICU. Check them out below:

NICU Resource Connection of Colorado

Colorado has extensive resources for families during their time in the NICU and in their transition home, but finding and accessing these resources can be confusing for families. Newborn Hope and the NICU Consortium Partnership developed The NICU Resource Connections so that families can find resource information in one centralized location and get connected to the supports they need.

For the NICU Mom on Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day in the NICU is challenging at best, downright hard for many and comes with a lot of big feelings. No matter how you are feeling about Mother’s Day this year we are here to tell you that you are important, and you are a mama and that is cause for celebration. Sahra’s blog shares some ways that you can honor motherhood and treat yourself to a little extra love.

Love for Lily

Through facilitated support groups, Essentials Bags, and grants, Love for Lily works to support families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to thrive during their stay and at home.

Newborn Hope

Newborn Hope provides resources for Colorado babies and families impacted by prematurity. Resources such as their Preemie Family Assistance Fund provide families with the services and care they need as they transition home from the NICU.

Hand to Hold

Hand to Hold helps families before, during, and after a NICU stay and infant loss by providing powerful resources for the whole family such as virtual support groups and one-on-one mentoring from someone who has been there.

Parent to Parent of Colorado

Parent to Parent of Colorado connects families of children with disabilities and special health care needs to information and emotional support.

NICU Parent Resource Manual

Designed by parents of children with special health care needs and those who work with them, this notebook will help you manage the emotions of having a child with special health care needs. This notebook will also help you to plan and coordinate your child’s care and provide you and your family with information on how to partner with doctors and your health care team in order to be an effective advocate for your child.
